Daphnis and Chloe

This series in progress, which began in 2014, was influenced by the ballet music Maurice Ravel wrote for the Ballet Russe production of Daphnis and Chloe in Paris. I attempted to capture the swirling rhythms and distant  echoes of  Mediterranean mythology in this work, a romantic tale of a young couple who endure ordeals and reunite in love.
